The terrorist trial in New York is a dog and pony show, a distraction. Keep your eyes on substantive issues facing the USA.

Do you know what Americans would have gotten if we had killed thousands in a terrorist act, like al-Qaida did to us on Sept. 11? Our heads would have been chopped off with a dull sword the minute they caught us. Why are we defending these terrorists on our soil a few blocks from ground zero?

Closing Guantanamo and bringing the detainees to the United States is a crock. Place a few United Nations observers in Gitmo to be sure the poor dears aren't tortured. How difficult is that?

It was not a politically correct military or the emasculation of the USA Patriot Act that made the Fort Hood suspect go undetected. This guy was watched since 2001. Let's see, 2001 to 2009 — the majority of those years were under the Bush administration. What do you say now, Republicans?

I've worried about the possibility of violence among our military personnel. The military needs to include relationship building in training, to discuss individual differences and the cruelty of teasing someone about color, religion, sexual preference, etc. While serving, they are members of the same family and should support one another.
