An armed man robbed the Famous Footwear store on East Kellogg Monday night, police said.

The man came into the store at 8137 E. Kellogg shortly before 7 p.m. and demanded money from the store safe and its cash registers, police said.

He claimed he was armed, though no weapon was ever seeen. The 55-year-old clerk gave the robber an undisclosed amount of cash, and the man left through the north door of the store and walked west.

The clerk said the robber was a black man about 5-feet-9 and in his 40s. He was wearing a brown or black jacket, black shoes and a black stocking cap.
