WICHITA — A 43-year-old woman has been charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of her estranged husband.
Melinda R. Hazelton is accused of shooting 44-year-old John Hazelton during an argument early Friday while he was visiting at a home in the 1200 block of West 19th Street. He died Saturday at Via Christi Medical Center-St. Francis Campus.
Police detectives told The Eagle on Friday that Hazelton and his wife had been separated and that he was not living at the residence where the shooting occurred.
Melinda Hazelton's preliminary hearing has been set for 9 a.m. Dec. 1. Her bond was set at $100,000.
