Via Christi Senior Services has launched InMyHome, a membership program that targets baby boomers and seniors who are in good health and want to stay in their homes as they age.
Debbi Elmore, vice president of marketing and public relations at Via Christi Senior Services, said the membership program will start in Sedgwick and Butler counties.
Via Christi originally planned the launch for April, but focus group meetings led to work over the summer to include elements that people said they wanted in a program, Elmore said.
She said Via Christi "absolutely" sees the program as a growth area because only 5 percent of seniors end up in a long-term care facility. The program also fits well with Via Christi's other services, which cover life from birth to death, she said.
The program had a soft launch a couple of months ago, Elmore said, with the placement of 29 base units and six medication units. Base units give users a way to contact someone in the event of a fall or other emergency.
Those units, part of a system of Smart Home technology, are in a rental program, Elmore said.
The membership includes Smart Home technology choices as well as a personal care coordinator and community referral services. Prices will depend on the age of the person signing up and the technology options chosen.
