Comment on Coliseum proposals

  • Published Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at 12:06 a.m.

Each Monday, The Eagle highlights a government record that is available to the public. Open records help people keep government in check and help them better understand how government affects their lives.

For a complete list of You Oughta Know columns, go to www.kansas.com/oughta.

The records: Residents' comments about two proposals to develop the Kansas Coliseum complex off of I-135 near 85th Street North.

Why you'd want them: To learn more about what others are saying about proposals by Heritage Development Group and North American Management-Kansas. Heritage wants to turn the Coliseum into the Saddle Rock Rodeo Resort. North American wants to build a mix of retail and entertainment on the site.

Where you get them: From Sedgwick County's Web site, www.sedgwickcounty.org. From the site's home page, go to the "Click Here to Access the Online Public Hearing" link. You can read others' comments and also add your own.

How much they will cost: The information is free. If you want to talk to the county about the proposals, call your commissioner at 316-660-9300.
