McPherson wins, now must wait

  • Published Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, at 12:06 a.m.

Shane Mascarenas passed for 273 yards and two touchdowns in McPherson's 44-17 win over Bethany at McPherson. It was the KCAC regular-season finale for both teams.

The Bulldogs needed Friends to beat Ottawa by less than 41 points on Saturday to clinch the KCAC's lone automatic bid to the NAIA playoffs, but after the Braves won 49-42 McPherson must now wait until this afternoon to find out if it was awarded one of seven at-large bids in the 16-team field.

Andy Skinner caught seven passes for 163 yards, including a 60-yarder, for McPherson.

Steven Baker passed for 233 yards for Bethany.
