President Obama is always depicted as having big ears. So why can't he listen?

President Obama cannot be blamed for Afghan President Hamid Karzai, no matter how hard the Republicans try to shift the blame.

* * *

I voted for President Obama because I thought he would push universal health care. But this House bill does nothing to relieve businesses of the health care burden. It does nothing to make health care affordable for most Americans, nor does it provide incentives for good health behavior. I can only hope the Senate kills it.

In the next three years, when we are all out of a job and broke, I hope "ObamaCare" covers starvation.

* * *

The Fort Hood massacre was a terrorist act, plain and simple.

* * *

There was a time when Kansans fought for government intervention, the populist era. Now we hand our votes to the Republicans, who never deliver on their promise and, in the name of deregulation, have caused the dream that was Kansas to all but evaporate.

The D.C. sniper should have committed his murders in Kansas. All we would have done is feed him the rest of his life.

Conservation Reserve Program farmers are whining about the government cutting their "retirement" acres. Can't say I feel sorry for them. The CRP program is almost as abused as our welfare system. I say: Plow it up and plant peanuts. Soon we will all be working for peanuts anyway.

Instead of changing teen- driving laws, why didn't we ban cell phones on the road? That would help teens as well as their parents be better drivers.

* * *

A teacher allegedly selling marijuana. Obviously, we are not paying teachers enough.

* * *

Does anyone else think all the water features and big rocks at WaterWalk are nothing more than landscaping for the developers' high-end condos?

* * *

To the person who wants to call Wichita the pothole capital of the world: You haven't been to many places, have you?
