Prosecutor: No charges

No charges will be filed against KU basketball and football players relating to the series of public fights that broke out between the teams in September, Lawrence city prosecutor Jerry Little said Friday.

Little’s office received the evidence collected by campus police, who were investigating a possible disorderly conduct charge. Little said there was not enough evidence to press charges, citing insufficient witness accounts.

Little said the university is still handling its own investigation but that legally the matter was now finished.

Cold Cole

KU coach Bill Self said he wasn’t concerned about center Cole Aldrich taking only five shots.

“There’s no doubt he needs to take more shots,” Self said, “and there’ll be nights where he gets 20, 22, 25, and there will be nights when he doesn’t get as many looks. They played zone. So I think what they did dictated that as much as anybody else.”

Worth noting

„øSelf said that Travis Releford will join Mario Little in redshirting this season.

„øKU takes on unranked Memphis at 9 p.m. Tuesday in St. Louis.
