Julius Scruggs, president of the National Baptist Convention USA, will be the speaker for a special service Sunday to mark the 131st anniversary of Calvary Baptist Church in Wichita.
Scruggs will speak at 10:45 a.m. Sunday at the church, 2653 N. Hillside.
The original 1917 church building at 601 N. Water houses the Kansas African American Museum.
The church moved from that location more than 30 years ago. Its pastor is the Rev. T. La Mont Holder.
The National Baptist Convention USA is the largest association of African-American churches in the nation, with 7.5 million members.
The public is invited to the service.
