Rose Hill lineman
The Rose Hill football team faces Buhler tonight for a spot in the Class 4A semifinals. A big reason that the Rockets have advanced this far is the 6-foot-4, 260-pound junior lineman.
Foltz was a two-way starter before an ankle injury forced him to spend most of the time on the offensive line. However, he's enjoying the success that he and his brother Blaize, a football player at TCU, are having.
What's been the biggest reason for Rose Hill's success?
"We've really come together as a team and our teamwork and attitude is improved. Everyone has gotten better, especially on the line. It's really been a great season."
What's it like blocking for a runner like LaQua Mayes?
"You can't stop. You have to always keep blocking because you never know where he could be. He can go to opposite side and the next thing you know he's right behind you."
Do you and Blaize talk a lot? What's your relationship like with him at TCU?
"We text a lot, but we keep up with each other. We both have big games this week, so we've really been praying for each other."
Your dad played college football and now your brother. Is there a lot of pressure coming from a football family?
"Yes, it's a lot of pressure, but they are always there for me. My dad has coached me all my life and my brother has helped teach me about the game. It would be nice to play in college, but I've got to continue to improve."
Is it possible for you to have a life outside of football?
"Well, I'm a leader in my youth group at church and I play other sports. I'm on the basketball team and I'm a thrower on the track team. When I'm not doing those things, I'm usually working out."
