Insurance chief to hold forum on PHS sale

WICHITA — Kansas Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger will lead a public forum next month on the proposed sale of Wichita-based Preferred Health Systems to Coventry Health Care.

The forum will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Dec. 14 in the CAC Theatre on the Wichita State University campus.

Praeger said representatives from Preferred Health parent Via Christi Health , Preferred Plus of Kansas and Coventry Health will each be given 15 minutes to comment on the proposed deal. Following the presentations, members of the public will be allowed to ask questions.

Praeger said the event precedes a public fact-finding hearing on the sale, which is scheduled from 1-3 p.m. on Dec. 18, also at the CAC Theatre.
