Travolta, Preston working to heal as a family

Speaking publicly for the first time since his 16-year-old son, Jett, died Jan. 2 after hitting his head on a bathtub during a seizure, John Travolta says coping with the devastating loss is a daily struggle.

"We've been working very hard every day as a family to heal," Travolta said in an interview with USA Today. Among his and wife Kelly Preston's coping tools are daily religious counseling sessions.

Travolta, 55, a Scientologist, says he broke his silence to focus on his daughter, Ella Bleu. Ella, 9, costars with her parents in her feature-film debut, the comedy "Old Dogs," which opens Nov. 25.

Preston, 47, said the grieving process is always evolving. "Being with people who are important to you, being with people that you love, I think that's what has primarily helped us the most," she said. "Sometimes, being alone, too."

Johnston to pursue joint custody of son

The man who was almost Sarah Palin's son-in-law will pursue legal action to gain joint custody of his son with Bristol Palin , according to reports.

Levi Johnston, 19, is the father of 10-month-old Tripp with the daughter of the former Alaska governor. The two were engaged to be married but broke off their relationship in March.

Johnston is seeking joint custody because the Palin family is allegedly making it difficult for him to see his son, he told The Insider.

"It's going to have to go to court," he said. "They just finally pushed me over the edge."

The relationship between Johnston and the Palins has taken a nasty turn in the past few weeks, with Johnston calling Sarah Palin a hypocrite and Palin lambasting him for his upcoming nude pictorial in Playgirl.

'Practice' star weds

Actress Marla Sokoloff tied the knot with Deadsy drummer Alec Puro on Sunday in Beverly Hills, according to People.com.

The 28-year old star of "The Practice" wore a white strapless gown with a black sash as she entered Il Cielo restaurant at 5:50 p.m. Accompanying her were five bridesmaids and two maids of honor, reportedly all dressed in classic black.

The newlyweds became engaged in October 2008.
