Kansas State won its second straight Big 12 match, 25-17, 25-17, 18-25, 25-13 over Texas Tech on Sunday in Manhattan. Middle blocker led the Wildcats with 13 kills.
BOWLING
The Wichita State men's and women's teams swept the SI-Elite Collegiate Tournament at Fairview Heights, Ill., with the WSU-D team winning the men's title and the WSU-C team winning the women's title.
Wichita State's Jessica Baker was named the women's tournament MVP after averaging 205.1 over nine games.
Ronnie Sparks Jr. led the WSU men with an average of 229.2 over six games.
BASKETBALL
Krysten Boogaard and Aishah Sutherland each posted double-doubles to help the No. 20 Kansas women to an 85-48 win over Emporia State at Lawrence. The Hornets are ranked No. 7 in NCAA Division II.
Boogaard finished with a team-high 17 points and 10 rebounds and Sutherland added 12 points and 10 rebounds. Danielle McCray scored 14 points in limited action.
* Kevin Durant scored 28 points, Russell Westbrook added 17 points and 10 assists and the Oklahoma City Thunder ran away from the Orlando Magic in the second half for a 102-74 victory at Oklahoma City.
GOLF
Phil Mickelson made an 18-footer to save par on the 16th after whiffing on a flop shot, then holed a 10-foot birdie putt on the 17th to close with a 3-under 69 to win the HSBC Champions in Shanghai and overcome a late charge by Ernie Els, who was in the lead until hitting into the water and making bogey on the final hole.
Tiger Woods was never a factor in the final World Golf Championship and had to scramble for bogey to close with a 72 and tie for sixth, five shots behind.
