How do the Yankees' championships stack up with other team sports?

The Yankees are the tops in North American pro sports with 27, thanks to their recent win against the Phillies.

For a while they were neck and neck with the NHL's Montreal Canadiens, who are hockey's best with 24 Stanley Cups. But it's been a 16-year championship drought for Montreal.

The Boston Celtics, 17, and Los Angeles Lakers, 15, are the best in pro basketball, winning the last two.

In football there are two measuring sticks: total championships dating back to the 1920s, in which case Green Bay has the most with 12; and Super Bowl titles, which the Steelers have the most with six.
