Former Salina Journal and Hutchinson News sportswriter Harold Bechard has been hired as the director of the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame. He will operate the hall's facilities at the Wichita Boathouse and Newton's Chisholm Trail Mall. Ted Hayes relinquished his role as director but remains as president.

Wichita State rolled to a 29-27, 25-16, 25-20 sweep of Southern Illinois at Carbondale, Ill., behind 12 kills and 19 digs from Emily Stockman. Kim Wadsworth added 12 kills and Mary Elizabeth Hooper had 42 assists.
* Pamela Cartagena led No. 22 Pittsburg State with 20 kills as the Gorillas pulled an upset of No. 7 Emporia State at Emporia, 27-25, 20-25, 25-22, 25-22. Brittney Miller led the Hornets with a career-high 25 kills.
SOCCER
Five players scored goals for the Friends men's team as the Falcons defeated Tabor 5-0 in the KCAC Tournament quarterfinals in Wichita. Brady Kaufman and Logan Glock combined for the shutout for Friends, which will play at McPherson on Wednesday in the semifinals.

Trevor Ariza and Carl Landry scored 21 points apiece and the Houston Rockets extended their winning streak over the Oklahoma City franchise to 11 games by beating the Thunder 105-94.... Jason Richardson bounced back from his worst game of the season to score 34 points with 10 rebounds, and the Phoenix Suns rebounded from their only defeat with a 110-103 win over Boston.... Dwight Howard had 22 points and 12 rebounds to help the Orlando Magic hold off Detroit 110-103.... Andrew Bogut bested Al Jefferson inside with 17 points and 10 rebounds, Luke Ridnour had 16 points off the bench and Milwaukee used a second-half surge to top Minnesota 87-72.... Dwyane Wade scored 22 points, Jermaine O'Neal added 18 and Miami defeated Denver 96-88, the Nuggets' first loss of the season.... Tyler Hansbrough scored 13 points in his pro debut as Indiana beat Washington 102-86 The first-round draft pick from North Carolina missed the preseason and the first four regular-season games with a right shin injury.... Andre Iguodala scored 16 points, including a late 3-pointer to give Philadelphia the lead in a 97-94 win over New Jersey.... Chris Bosh scored 27 points and Toronto used a 27-4 run in the third quarter to take control in a 107-90 win over New Orleans.... Yann Danis made 23 saves and stopped four in-close attempts in the third period against his former Islanders teammates, helping the New Jersey Devils beat New York 2-1 for their fourth straight win.... Jose Theodore stopped 28 shots, Brian Pothier had a goal and two assists and Washington — playing without injured star Alex Ovechkin for the second straight game — beat Florida 4-1.... Daniel Carcillo scored twice and Ray Emery made 28 saves to lead Philadelphia to a 5-2 win over Buffalo.... Jason Blake scored on a power play with 8:24 left, and Jonas Gustavsson made 34 saves in Toronto's 3-2 win over Carolina.
