Caleb Walker was one of the breakout stars in the Jayhawk Conference last season as a freshman, earning honorable mention all-league honors while leading Butler to a surprise second-place finish in the West. The 6-foot-4 Hutchinson native can play three positions and averaged 9.7 points and 4.6 rebounds.

New coach Tommy DeSalme knows the Jayhawk East well after coming over from Independence. The exodus of Tigers that followed former coach Steve Eck to Hutchinson should give 6-4 Wichita South product Lance Russell, one of the few holdovers, a chance to show if he can be a dominant player in the Jayhawk.

Former Wichita East star Garrius Holloman is back after missing almost all of last year with a torn ACL and will be counted on to anchor a post-by-committee. The Cowley transfer's surgically repaired knee isn't 100 percent yet, according to Eck, and rust might be a factor at the beginning of the year.
