"I won't risk your lives unless it is absolutely necessary," President Obama said at a naval air station. Isn't that a great statement, knowing we are getting our rear ends kicked in Afghanistan? Remember Korea and Vietnam? Secure our borders and keep out the immigrants. That will keep us safe.

I voted against Obama, but I hope he will stop the misguided and ill-fated "drug war" our government has embraced ever since "Reefer Madness" came out 73 years ago. If Obama stops throwing our children into jail to nobody's benefit, he will have earned my vote in 2012.

The Fox News "hit squad" is about as dangerous to our form of government as Joe McCarthy was in the early 1950s.

Fox News has to be biased to make up for the bias of CNN, MSNBC, etc. Fox is evening the playing field.

I thought I had "crazy" cornered as a left-wing liberal during the Bush administration, but I must admit that the right wing has "crazy" down to a science.

The credit industry is not a free market. The Federal Reserve has too much power and influence over interest rates, the money supply and our economy.

Payday loans and title loans are legalized loan sharking. They prey on the helpless, and I don't know why our government allows them.

Before day-care providers get in cars with children they are responsible for, it should be mandatory that they take a Breathalyzer test. This is critical for all children's safety.

Come on: Brad Paisley, Tim McGraw, Bon Jovi — we've got all the old people covered. Where is my concert?

Regarding the use of the parking lot at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium by the Tea Party Express: Since we also are local taxpayers, it is "our" right to use it, and we don't need to reimburse ourselves. The Wichita Toy Run also enjoys this right.

Would someone please remind me why the University of Kansas gave football coach Mark Mangino a raise?
