Opinion Line Extra (Oct. 29)
President Obama has had nine months to get up to speed on Afghanistan. He has needed two months and counting to make a decision while our troops are fighting. Obama's handpicked general says troops are needed now. I don't think it's too much to let Congress and voters have a month or two to study a health care bill before voting on it.

Do you think the violence in Afghanistan has anything to do with "dithering"?

I'm an independent who wants to thank the Democrats for showing us with this partisan health care bill that they are the party that needs to be thrown out of every political office.

Dan Rather was fired for running a story about President Bush that turned out to be false. Fox News runs equally false stories about President Obama every day, and no one gets fired. That is the difference between true journalism and faux news.

If the welfare system is fixed, there will be money for health care reform. Quit paying these girls and women to have babies. Pay for birth control. Then if they get pregnant, they can take care of their kids and the taxpayers won't have to. This would save billions of dollars.

Do you really want the people who are in charge of our battle with H1N1 to run your entire health care system?

Larry Johnson is a talented guy who, no matter how hard he works, is dealing with a Kansas City Chiefs team that is less than it ought to be. Homophobic? Hardly. Guys say what he said out of frustration with people asking idiotic questions. It means no more than that. The media need to stop making mountains out of molehills.

I wonder why the ads on TV or radio, or even in the phone book, don't tell us the businesses' addresses.

The government health care provided to the 86 million Americans who get it is better than what the Native Americans have only because it's available in or near urban areas where most of the population lives, provided by the same doctors the insured use. Native American reservations are isolated and Native Americans can be less healthy, thus the waits for care.
