Opinion Line (Oct. 25)

Only in Wichita would anyone think to criticize the president for attending his child's parent-teacher conference. Give me a break.

* * *

President Obama is a father and has every right to attend his children's conferences and spend time with his family. More men should follow his lead.

* * *

I remember the good old days when I'd hear from the president once a month. Not this one. He has to be in the news every day.

* * *

President Obama has some beautiful suits. Too bad they are empty. Perhaps he could donate them to a member of the armed services who could fill them.

Jesus told the stoners to lay off the adulteress, and Obama tells the Department of Justice to lay off the stoners.

The majority of the people feel like they overcorrected in 2008 and now there's an imbalance of power in Washington, D.C.

Some of the letters to the editor must be written on a Big Chief tablet with an orange crayon. Come on, conservatives — get an education, grow up and join the real world.

What about Dan Glickman for governor? We can hope.

Shortage of H1N1 vaccine? Must be George Bush's fault.

Sure, women don't get paid as much as men. They don't do the same jobs as men. That's like comparing apples to oranges.

After reading Thursday's paper, I have come around to agree that there was torture at Guantanamo Bay. If prisoners were made to listen to Britney Spears, Marilyn Manson, etc., they were indeed tortured.

I would say the people in northeast Wichita who are opposing the Lord's Diner are not very good Christians.

* * *

There are many crime problems around the Lord's Diner downtown. Are they trying to solve a problem only to compound another? Are they really thinking about the hungry? What else is on their agenda?

* * *

Before the next three years are over, we're all going to be hoping we have a Lord's Diner on our block.

* * *

Now the city only has to lay off seven people. But if we had the $500,000 that's going to Boston for a downtown plan, we wouldn't have to lay off any employees.

What a way to get tourism in Wichita. We finally get an aviation convention, a technical convention and "Wicked," and what do we do? Our local yokels start putting parking tickets on out-of-town vehicles. Pretty bright.
