Opinion Line (Oct. 21)
President Obama is going to parent-teacher conferences while soldiers die in Afghanistan. Can't Michelle do anything?
* * *
I am glad that President Obama is not blundering into Afghanistan like a swaggering Texas cowboy. He uses his head instead of shooting and asking questions later.

When Sen. Max Baucus speaks, it looks like he might say, "No, I don't know anything about health care, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night."
* * *
If you are waiting for a statesman or the government to get you a job, you will be waiting a long time. You have to depend on yourself.
* * *
Obama should give his Nobel Peace Prize money to the seniors on Social Security. That would help offset the cuts that will happen to their Medicare when this nutty health care bill gets ramrodded down our throats.
* * *
Sen. Pat Roberts' commentary ("Health reform bill too costly, intrusive," Oct. 18 Opinion) was at least misleading. He didn't even sit in the Senate Finance Committee for parts of the discussion. So how does he make these statements? Has he read the bill?
* * *
It is reprehensible that Sens. Pat Roberts and Sam Brownback voted against the Franken anti-rape amendment in order to side with Halliburton. When your allegiance to a company has you siding with gang rapists, it's time to reconsider your loyalties.

Federal stimulus money is going to pay for a "free" spay and neuter program in Wichita. How many jobs will that produce?
* * *
If low-income residents have to choose between getting a dog neutered and buying groceries, then they really should not own a dog. Only own or buy what you can afford.
* * *
Why are the Shoemakers having to work so hard to keep behind bars the man who helped abduct their daughter? I am sick of the judicial system blowing sunshine up our skirts on the length of these jail sentences.
* * *
Wichita State moved Michelle Malkin's political speech off-campus. If political speech were the issue, 99 percent of professors would have to move their classes off-campus because of the liberal blather they express daily.

Thanks to all the Koch brothers for the financial support they have given Wichita and our charities all these years. More huge corporations need to follow their example.
