Pfizer announced Tuesday that it will move the headquarters of the former Fort Dodge Animal Health from Overland Park to Pfizer Animal Health's base in Madison, N.J.
A day earlier, a Pfizer official said the pharmaceutical company "will be maintaining a presence in Overland Park for some time."
But a decision to move was made Tuesday.
" (Tuesday) was really the first day Pfizer Animal Health leadership had a chance to interact with Fort Dodge," Pfizer spokesman Rick Chambers said.
Last week, Pfizer closed on its acquisition of Wyeth and its subsidiary, Fort Dodge Animal Health.
Chambers said no timetable has been set for how soon the former Fort Dodge Animal Health headquarters will be folded into the New Jersey operations.
The Overland Park headquarters has about 200 employees. Some will be offered roles at other Pfizer sites and all will have the opportunity to apply for jobs elsewhere with the company, Chambers said.
Those who don't remain with Pfizer will be provided separation benefits, Chambers said.
Fort Dodge Animal Health, a global manufacturer of animal health products, has been a key component in the Kansas-Missouri bioscience corridor.
