In bloom at Botanica: Enchanted Evening rose

Botanical name: Rosa floribunda "Enchanted Evening"

Location: Brosius Rose Garden

Description: Enchanted Evening is one of the best-performing lavender roses at Botanica, blooming profusely from late spring through fall. This cultivar has a compact, rounded growth habit with dark green foliage and a sumptuous citrus scent. Reaches a mature height and spread of 3 to 4 feet. It has a modern reblooming habit and an increased resistance to disease.

Growth tips: Optimum growing conditions are well-drained soil amended with organic matter in full sun to partial shade. Plant container-grown roses in the spring or fall and plant bare-root roses in early spring. Deadhead spent blooms to promote flowering, but discontinue deadheading in the fall to prepare the plant for dormancy.

History: New to Botanica this year.

Uses: A fantastic selection for perennial beds, borders and containers. This cultivar is a great choice for a fragrance garden and makes a good cut flower.

Also blooming: other roses, mums, pansies, asters, anemones, wildflowers and perennials.
