Cheney: No recent reports.

Council Grove: Catfish fair in the mainlake drifting live shad and using crawlers in the creeks. Saugeye fair along windy points or shorelines in less than 3 feet of water using shad-imitating crankbaits or plastic on a jig. White bass fair trolling crankbaits in the mainlake. Crappie fair to good near brush in 8-11 feet of water or channel breaks and along the face of the dam.

El Dorado: Wipers fair to good along windy points and the dam trolling crankbaits and casting jigs and spinners. White bass fair to good on jigs, crankbaits and spinners off windblown points and along the dam. Crappie fair in creeks and along channel breaks using minnows. Catfish fair with stinkbaits and crawlers along windy shorelines and in coves with liver. Walleye fair to good in 6-15 feet of water trolling crankbaits.

Marion: Catfish good using dip bait. Crappie good around the rocks along the dam and deep-water brush. Walleye fair using jig-n-crawler on the flats. White bass fair on rocky points near deep water and off the dam with spinners and grubs. Wipers fair on points and drops, as well as the dam, using crankbaits and curly-tailed grubs.

Kansas

Fall River: Catfish good in the outlet and in Fall River on worms, shad sides and stinkbaits. Crappie good using minnow or jig in South Rock Ridge Cove, along rocky shorelines and around brush in the river. White bass good using sassy shad, spinners or rattletraps on points.

Glen Elder: Crappie fair to good using small jig-n-minnows over deep brushpiles off Campground 3, swimming beach point and the bluffs. White bass fair to good in Osage Cove, near the swimming beach and around the north end of the dam trolling rattletraps and shad raps. Wipers fair in northeast corner of the reservoir. Walleye fair trolling a variety of lures in the Walnut Creek area. Catfish fair to good using sunfish, goldfish and crayfish on setlines along the river channels.

Kanopolis: Channel catfish good with fresh cut bait over chummed humps. Crappie fair to good form the deeper brush around the outlet tower and the mouth of the marina cove on jigs. Walleye/saugeye fair near the dam and the edges of the river channel in the Loder Point area using slab spoons and shad-colored crankbaits. White bass good to excellent with slab spoons off windy points and underwater humps. Wipers fair off windy points with bucktailed jigs or slab spoons and on deeper points with live shad.

Milford: Black bass fair with smallmouths along deeper gravel/rock points on jigs, crankbaits and carolina rigs and largemouths on small spinnerbaits and shallow-running crankbaits along ledges 5-10 feet deep. Catfish fair in the river and along edges of windy flats 10 feet deep using shad, shrimp and worms. Crappie fair using jigs-n-minnows in water 10-20 feet deep near channel ledges and points with brush along coves. Walleye fair on jig-n-crawler along deep edges of flats and near points 20-30 feet deep and along river channel bends on jigging spoons. White bass good using jigs near humps and on jigs and spinners along rocky points and causeways. Wiper fair on shad and spoons near humps.

Toronto: Catfish fair to good using worms, shad sides or stinkbaits in the outlet, river and Walnut Creek. White bass good on points using sassy shad, spinners or rattletraps. Crappie good around trees and brush in Manns Cove, Toronto Cove, north side of Duck Island and in Walnut Creek using jig or minnow.

Tuttle Creek: Catfish fair in the reservoir on wind-swept points with shad and fair on cut bait in the tailwaters. Crappie fair next to standing timber in 10 feet of water in the reservoir and near docks, channels and structure in the River Pond on jig-n-minnow. White bass fair to good on deeper rocky points or near surfacing shad. Saugeye fair on jigs and crankbaits in the tubes and Rocky Ford and on live bait in the River Pond.

Webster: Walleye good with jigs along the South shore road or around the dam, bluffs and old swim beach trolling diving lures. Wipers/white bass good along the dam, the bluffs and off the Rock Point breakwater trolling diving lures. Crappie good over the fish attractors, east of the bait shop, along the South shore road, up in Rock Point Cove off the public dock and along the breakwaters using jigs, and jig-n-minnow using jigs, and jig-n-minnow.

Wilson: Catfish good using cut baits or slab spoons off the docks in Marshall Cove. Crappie fair in brushpiles and the docks. Stripers fair on the points using slab spoons and bucktail jigs. Walleye fair on the points and river channel breaks in the upper end using green and orange jigs and slab spoons. White bass fair using white twister-tailed jigs, slab spoons and roadrunners around flooded weedbeds. Black bass good using beetle spins, crankbaits and small spinner baits on rocky points and in flooded vegetation.

Waterfowl Report

Low Plains Early Zone Duck Season, through Dec. 6; Dec. 19-Jan. 3

Cedar Bluff: Water level is 16.5 feet below conservation level. Approximately 2,000 to 3,000 ducks present, mostly wigeon, gadwall and teal Hunting conditions fair, with water just at the edge of vegetation. Success expected to be fair to good, with low hunting pressure.

Cheyenne Bottoms WA: approximately 20,000 to 40,000 ducks present, with a good percentage of big ducks. Pool 1A, 18 inches; Pools 1B and 1C, 14 inches; Pool 2, 14 inches; Pool 3A, 11 inches; Pool 3B, dry; Pool 4A, dry; 4B, 17 inches; Pool 5, dry. Conditions are good to excellent. Success rated good to excellent.

Jamestown WA: Approximately 4,000 ducks present, mostly pintail and teal, with a mix of mallard, gadwall and wigeon present. Hunting conditions are excellent. Success expected to be excellent.

McPherson Valley Wetlands: Approximately 5,00-6,000 ducks using the area, including teal, pintail, northern shovelers, wood ducks, gadwalls, mallards and wigeon. Good huntable water available, except pool 10 in the Big Basin. Success expected to be good. All areas east of K61 are in late zone.

High Plains Duck Season, through Jan. 5; Jan. 23-31

Norton WA: Water level is 10.4 feet below conservation pool. About 2,500 ducks are present, with a mix of teal, shoveler, wigeon, gadwall, pintail and coot. Hunting conditions are good, with lots of flooded vegetation. Hunting success expected to be good.
