Opinion line (Oct. 14)


With regard to human history and President Obama, rarely has someone done so very little and received so very much.

Yes, we voted for change and we did get change, from "I am the way" to "Let's find a way." Even the Nobel Peace Prize recognized the change.

The legitimacy of the Nobel Peace Prize has dropped faster than the value of the dollar.

* * *

Why can't we just be proud that Obama — our president, an American — was chosen to receive the Nobel Peace Prize? Maybe the outside world recognizes virtues that Americans don't.

All lawmakers who vote "yes" for the health care plan should have to take a test before it is passed. If they can't answer questions about what is in the bill, they should be thrown out along with the plan.

I can't wait to see the Tom DeLay sequel, "Dancing Behind the Bars."

* * *

ACLU members hate God. Christians need to buy them one-way tickets to Russia, where they won't encounter "In God We Trust," crosses, Ten Commandments and so forth — things Christians love to encounter. Then we and they could "live happily ever after."

People complaining about Brad Paisley? Incredible guitar player, great voice, tons of music awards and several top-selling albums. Intelligent, thoughtful man with true family values. Sounds like he should be just about perfect for Wichita.

I'm not too worried about the arena parking problem, but when country acts come to town, where am I going to tie up my horse?

People of a black and white background do not all refer to themselves as black. However, during my 30 years living as a person of such mixed race, I have never been considered by any white person to be anything other than black.

Sedgwick County Commissioner Gwen Welshimer is full of criticism but short on solutions. She would be a great talk-radio host.

* * *

As of August, 28 of 100 pregnant women who contacted the H1N1 virus had died, yet many mothers-to-be hesitate about getting the vaccine. They and their baby would have better odds playing Russian roulette.
