Season premiere

"Independent Lens"

The documentary series kicks off a new season with "Herb and Dorothy," a profile of Herb and Dorothy Vogel, a postal clerk and a librarian who built one of the most important contemporary art collections in history, proving that you "don't have to be a Rockefeller" to collect art. Terrence Howard hosts. 9 p.m., PBS and KPTS, Channel 8.

Series

"90210"

Silver and Kelly deal with shocking news about their mother (guest star Ann Gillespie); and Jasper (guest star Zach Sherman) saves Annie from a bad date. 7 p.m., CW and KSCW, Channel 5/33.

Reality show

"The Biggest Loser"

A challenge winner gets to divide the contestants into two teams, each of which will train with either Jillian Michaels or Bob Harper. And after a challenge testing the contestants' ability to work together in their new teams, a difficult elimination results in another player being sent home. 7 p.m., NBC and KSNW, Channel 3.

Movie

"Wyatt Earp"

Kevin Costner originally was set to play Earp in "Tombstone" but disliked that film's ensemble approach, bolting to reunite with director Lawrence Kasdan ("Silverado") for this 1994 epic. Like many of Costner's movies, it's a bit of an ego trip, but the cast includes Gene Hackman, Dennis Quaid, Mark Harmon, JoBeth Williams, Mare Winningham and Bill Pullman, and Owen Roizman scored a richly deserved Oscar nod for cinematography. 7 p.m., AMC, Channel 55.

Sports

College Football

Arkansas State at Louisiana-Monroe. 7 p.m., ESPN2, Channel 33.
