Jenna Elfman ("Dharma & Greg") returns to series television as Billie, an impetuous film critic who, after an unsettling encounter with her old flame and boss (Grant Show), embarks on a one-night stand with a much younger man (Jon Foster) that leaves her pregnant. 7:30 p.m., CBS and KWCH, Channel 12.
Season premieres
"Heroes"
"Volume Five: Redemption" introduces ringleader Samuel (Robert Knepper) and his mysterious carnival clan, whose motives are murky, to say the least. 7 p.m., NBC and KSNW, Channel 3.
"House"
Last season played out with both a bang and a whimper, as one of House's fellows, Kutner, fatally shot himself, and House began having hallucinations. Realizing he was losing touch with reality, he checked into a psychiatric hospital, which is where we find him in the two-hour episode that opens season six. 7 p.m., Fox and KSAS, Channel 4/24.
"Dancing With the Stars"
The ninth-season lineup of "stars" is even more hoot-worthy than most, including hoofers ranging from former teenage sitcom witch Melissa Joan Hart to Donny Osmond and former U.S. congressman Tom DeLay. 7 p.m., ABC and KAKE, Channel 10.
"CSI: Miami"
The eighth season of this hit crime procedural opens with Eric Delko's life hanging in the balance, prompting Horatio to reminisce about the creation of the CSI team and how its members first met. 9 p.m., CBS and KWCH, Channel 12.
