New show

"Dark Blue"

Dylan McDermott ("The Practice") returns to series television as Carter Shaw, the leader of an elite team of police officers whose activities are so covert that many of their colleagues have no idea they are involved. Also on the team are Ty (Omari Hardwick), a recently married cop; Dean (Logan Marshall-Green), an impetuous officer with a dark side; and Jaimie (Nicki Aycox), an inexperienced cop who is aces at lying. 9 p.m., TNT, Channel 30.

Season premiere

"Leverage"

On the verge of splitting up and going their separate ways at the end of season one, Nate Ford (Timothy Hutton) and his posse find their way back together as season two opens with a new home base — Boston — and episodic story lines that are more self-contained than in the first season. 8 p.m., TNT, Channel 30.

Documentary

"Time Team America"

Scientists travel to the swamps of South Carolina in an effort to discover definitively when people first came to North America. Many experts think humans followed big game here about 13,000 years ago, but others think it may have been much, much earlier. 7 p.m., PBS and KPTS, Channel 8.

Movie

"Johnny Got His Gun"

Blacklisted Hollywood screenwriter Dalton Trumbo penned this touching, powerful yet nonpreachy anti-war story about a World War I soldier (Timothy Bottoms) missing arms, legs and a face, who ponders life from his hospital bed. Jason Robards and Donald Sutherland also star. 9 p.m., TCM, Channel 65.
