Hot days in a row >

Yesterday we talked about the most 100-degree days in a year. But what about the most consecutive 100-degree days? That was in 1936, when it happened for 20 days from Aug. 7 through Aug. 26. The second- place winner, if we can call it that, is the 18 days in a row from July 3 to July 20, 1980. Third place is more recent, when we had 16 straight days of 100-plus temperatures from Aug. 19 through Sept. 3, 2000.
