— Maybe it was a case of swine flu — make that H1N1 — paranoia. A coughing spell at about 6:30 p.m. Monday in east Wichita ignited an argument between brothers that escalated to the point that one beat the other with an aluminum baseball bat, sending him to the hospital, police said.

A 27-year-old man became upset that his 28-year-old brother didn’t cover his mouth when he coughed, police said. The attack, which took place in the 3300 block of East 13th Street, fractured the older brother’s arm and left him with other injuries.

He is being treated at Wesley Medical Center. The younger brother was booked into jail on suspicion of aggravated assault.
