LAWRENCE | Hundreds gathered Thursday for a solemn tribute to a 19-year-old University of Kansas student was found dead at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon house after a night of heavy drinking.

Jason Wren of Littleton, Colo., was remembered Thursday evening as an intelligent, loyal person but asked mourners not to let him die in vain. Wren's father, Jay Wren, repeated his call for the fraternity to ban alcohol.

Soon after his son's body was found, Jay Wren blamed alcohol for his death.

At the service outside the fraternity house where his son died, he asked that when someone is offered a drink, they should say, "In honor of Jason Wren, I put my drink down...." SAE local chapter vice president Patrick Stacy said "I urge everyone to use alcohol responsibly."
