U.S. 54 through Greensburg will reopen for traffic at noon today -- one month to the day after a massive tornado destroyed most of the town.
Traffic has been routed around the town so that trucks could more easily haul a seemingly endless supply of debris to a dump site. Kansas Department of Transportation spokesman Tom Hein said there had also been concern among officials about loose debris falling from the trucks as they traveled.
At least 75 percent of the debris in Greensburg has now been removed, officials reported late last week.
