A memorial fund has been set up for Macksville police officer Tim Buckman, who was killed by the tornado that passed near Macksville late on the evening of May 4.

Contributions may be made at any Bank of America location, or mailed to the Robert "Tim" Buckman Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 118, Buhler, KS 67522.

Buckman, 46, was one of 12 people killed in Kansas tornadoes on May 4 and 5.

National Weather Service officials who conducted damage assessments reported the tornado that struck Buckman's patrol car touched down at 11:25 p.m. about 2 ½ miles southeast of Macksville, grew to an EF2 tornado three-quarters of a mile wide, and traveled 13 miles before lifting 4 ½ miles northwest of St. John.

Buckman was traveling on U.S. 50 east of Macksville when he was hit, according to authorities.
