Gilbert Adams deserves some kind of award for sheer dogged persistence. He's not one of these guys who starts a project, gets halfway into it and then sells it off for lack of interest, funds or time.

If you love cars and the cooler fall weather, don't care about trophies and don't mind being referred to as a "geezer," a one-block section of Old Town was the place to be last Saturday. It was the venue for the sixth annual "Geezer Gathering," a low-key, unjudged car show dreamed up by Roy Merritt, aided and abetted by a bunch of his car buddies.
I saw a friend's Facebook post indicating his wife was insisting he clean out some of the T-shirts he has stashed in his closet.

After years of being harangued by fellow car guys to attend the Ol' Marais River Run car show in Ottawa, I finally agreed to take the plunge.

HUTCHINSON — The car would be a head-turner in any case. But Roger and Melinda Mitchell's gun metal gray 1930 Ford, which appears to be a classic Tudor hot rod, surprises almost everyone who walks around behind it and discovers it's actually a 3-door sedan.
Variety was the keyword of the day when Hot Rod Magazine's Drag Week rolled into Great Bend on Tuesday. Leaping nitrous oxide-aided Mustangs, a Datsun 280Z with a gigantic supercharged Chevy engine, a rust- encrusted 1959 Oldsmobile and Larry Larson's bad to the bone '66 Chevy Nova made passes down the historic quarter mile where the first NHRA Nationals was staged.
